Project Summary & Development Process

Objective

To create a real-time audio frequency visualizer that:
✅ Detects sound frequencies and displays corresponding colors
✅ Offers manual and auto color selection
✅ Works seamlessly across desktop and mobile
✅ Includes fullscreen mode for an immersive experience
✅ Ensures a clean user-friendly interface

 

Development Process:

1. Concept & Planning

  • Defined core functionality (frequency detection, color overlays, interactivity).

  • Designed an intuitive interface with minimal distractions.

  • Determined how users would interact with the visualizer (click-to-start, dropdown for colors, fullscreen mode).

2. Setting Up the Visuals

  • Used 3 GIF layers:
    1️⃣ Static Background GIF (default image)
    2️⃣ Base ZONDO GIF (always visible animation)
    3️⃣ Color Overlay GIFs (change based on frequency or user selection)

  • Implemented smooth transitions for color changes.

3. Audio Frequency Detection

  • Used Web Audio API to:

    • Capture microphone input

    • Analyze real-time frequency data

    • Display detected Hz

  • Matched frequencies to color-coded GIFs.

4. Interactive Features

  • Color Selector: Dropdown for manual color selection.

  • Auto Mode: Automatically changes colors based on frequency detected.

  • Fullscreen Mode: Hides interface elements for immersive viewing (desktop only).

  • Frequency Guide: Displays color mapping.

5. Ensuring Cross-Platform Compatibility

  • Optimized UI for desktop and mobile responsiveness in different browsers.

  • Fixed fullscreen mode issues (mostly).

  • Ensured GIFs load correctly by setting a default source.

 

Final Outcome
